Greetings Nippon Family!
I saw a similar note card in a a different RP sim, and it had some ideas I wanted to share on how to enjoy your time in Nippon.
THING #1: Making things happen!
If you received this note card, than you are a citizen of Nippon and part of the Nippon family. This means if you're around when nothing's going on, you are totally free to make things happen.
You don't have to wait for anyone or any particular group. It's okay to get with someone and start up some RP scenes! It's more than okay to hold a DCS fight class, or get together with people to spar. Heck, if you want to hold an impromptu tournament, RP class, building instructions, go for it! Any GM or Magistrate will be more than happy to help you pull off an event, start a storyline, or even make a tournament! We LOVE ideas and welcome your input.
Looking for people to play with you? Ask in group chat, or send an IM to your favorite people and have them come. You can IM one of the GMs and they would be more than happy to send out a group notice for you.
THING #2: DCS Combat.
In Nippon, have some SERIOUS DCS fighters in our sim, and are very proud of it. Nippon goes against others in raids, and we take much pride in our successes. How do you become a good fighter? Constant practice! Just like in real life, you only get better by fighting often and with as many people as possible.
If you are looking for someone to spar, send out a notice in group chat, or ask one of the combat GMs - Nexisss Aeon or Roxie Elephas, or any Renjai sensei. They will be more than happy to assist and train you. Take advantage of the classes offered, tournaments and battles that we have. The more you fight, the better you will be.
Tournaments are held at least 3 times each week, with prize money. If you like combat and have what it takes, than practice diligently and you'll reap the rewards of your hard work.
THING #3: Although Nippon is a DCS fighting sim, it is also an RP sim. Unlike immersion RP sims, you can go as in depth into your character as you wish, or be as OOC as you wish. However, Feudal Nippon is still a sim with settings in Feudal Japan and is full of samurai, ninja, geisha, priests, supernatural spirits, oni, and all sorts of other things. We have elements of Japanese mythology and fantasy woven into our sim culture. Many of us follow bushido, Eastern traditions of courtesy and respect, and Japanese traditions as closely as possible.
Although it is not required, it's more fun if you imagine yourself BEING in Japan, and immersing yourself in the experience. Even if you are here just for DCS combat, there are still rules of etiquette to follow, and you are still on a battlefield or in the arena. Nippon is a beautiful sim! Take some time to enjoy the sakura blossoms and admire a few geisha now and then, but remember to wipe the gore off your shoes before you enter the Noodlehouse.
Don't worry if you're not sure how to react or address someone. You can always ask, but we're not sticklers on this. It's all about having fun in a sim we love. You also are not required to RP, just as you are not required to DCS fight. It is your choice, and there are clans and groups that cater to what you like to do.
THING #4: Related to the RP is the ability to separate yourself as an OOC person from the character that you play. This is why it's important to communicate OOC with the people you Rp with, so that they can tell the difference between when you are in character and RPing with them and when you are out of character. My suggestion, since Nippon is primarily a fight sim and not RP, is to have RP sessions where you've asked or proposed a storyline with the people you would like to RP with.
THING #5: Remember ultimately all RP and combat is consensual. If you're trying to fight someone who doesn't want to fight you or be involved with your character at that time, and they point it out to you OOC, you should back off. Simple as that. Please maintain an air of mutual respect. Courtesy goes a long way in Nippon, and we really are one big family.
If someone doesn't want to play with you at that moment, it is most likely nothing personal. Everyone has things they're doing at different times in Nippon. If someone is crossing a line with you, let them know in private IM. If they still don't ease off, let us, the GM's know.
Thanks so much for reading and may you find as much enjoyment out of Nippon as many of us do!

Welcome to Feudal Nippon!

For those of you that are, I want to welcome you to a world filled with samurai, geisha, ninja, and wizards. Set in Feudal Japan, Nippon is a community and a wonderous land that includes Japanese folklore and a culture all its own. If you like youkai, and oni, magic and battle, than Nippon may be the world for you.
Under the rule of Emperor Ronin McGinnis and the Imperial Family, there are four clans that exist in the sim. Each clan, and its leader, represents one of the four pillars for which Nippon rests.
My name is Blue Myanamotu, and I am one of the clan leaders in Nippon. My attempt at this blog is to provide information to newcomers, as well as provide a newsletter of sorts to those that live in its community. The blog is divided into several parts, which you can view the links below. One thing you'll find about Nippon is that the people who live there, myself included, love the sim very much. Should you ever need help or have questions, you'll always find a person willing to help assist. In many ways, Feudal Nippon is a community and a family.
